How Long Should My First Massage Be?
A lot of first time clients can sometimes be confused and not know how long their first massage should be.
When in doubt here are a few things to consider:
- Do you feel comfortable with the therapist?
- What do the reviews say about the therapist?
- Does the treatment room look nice and cozy?
Knowing these things could help you figure out what would be best for you.
Often times, most first time clients end up going for the full one hour massage.
But you do have the option to book a 30 minute massage…
if time permits you might be able to extend the massage for a longer time to really get the full benefits of DEEP relaxation!
What I Should do Before My Appointment?
The most important thing for you to do is to try getting in a relaxed state of mind that way by the time you come in, your body will unwind and loosen up quicker than it normally would.
It is also important to remember to fill out the Intake Form that is emailed to you after you book your appointment.
Or please arrive 10 mintues early to quickly fill it out before the massage.
During the Massage
Don’t be afraid to let your therapist know of any issues or annoying pains that have been bothering you.
Also don’t be afraid to let them know if what they do feels uncomfortable or even hurts.
If they are a trustworthy and professional therapist they will take all of your needs into account to give you the best massage experience ever!
You will be asked to dress down to your comfort level, going no further than bra and underwear.
You will be draped and covered with sheets very generously.
After Your Massage Treatment
Once all your time is up, the therapist will inform you very gently that your treatment has finished.
The therapist will then allow you to remain asleep on the bed (if time permits)
and will step out to bring you a cup of warm tea or water to flush out
the toxins that have been released during your massage.
A very important tip for after your massage is to make sure you are drinking a lot of filtered water
as it is the only way for your body to get rid of the toxins that were building up in your body.
The easiest thing to do is to take your own large glass or stainless steel bottle of water to drink throughout the rest of your day.
I specifically mention glass or stainless steel as it is crucial to avoid harsh plastic bottles,
which often leak nasty chemicals into the water.
I cannot even imagine how damaging it is for the body to be exposed to such chemicals.
Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I Go Back to Work?
For many people, their biggest stressors come from the daily grind at their jobs.
We recommend that if at all possible, it is best not to return to your
job the same day as it can take away from the relaxing experience you just had.
Not to mention it also could cause your stress levels to rise back up again and your back at square one all over again.
2) I feel Sore, Is This Okay?
Yes it absolutely is.
Many times people have built up so much stress that they carry it in certain places of their body, which causes it to tighten and tense up.
NOT So Fun Fact:
Women often carry it in their shoulders and neck.
If you’ve ever seen someone with crazy rounded upper back that reminds you of Hunchback…
it probably is the result of too much stress hurting the body.
3) Should I Tip the Therapist?
Now, it is entirely up to you whether you feel comfortable tipping or not.
Do not feel bad if you decide to skip the tip due to poor service.
Sometimes the treatment just isn’t quite good enough to garner a tip and that’s okay.
But…when you do find a trustworthy and professional therapist that helps you feel so extremely relaxed…
maybe drop a few extra dollars to show your appreciation.
Therapists love knowing when they’ve done a great job.
Also…make sure to leave reviews on Google, Yelp, or Facebook as it is a great way for others to know exactly what they are paying for when they visit a therapist.
